Introduction to FortiManager

Centralized Management:

--> Forti Manager is a centralized Management tool which allows you to manage several FortiGate devices.

--> Instead of logging into each and every FortiGate device individually, with the help of FortiManager we can manage all of the devices at the same time.

--> Scales from few to thousand devices with easy to understand graphical user interface.

Configuration Changes:

--> Fortimanager provides the history of configuration changes made on FortiGate devices.

--> It is possible to schedule new configuration changes or go back to the previous configuration by using FortiManager.

--> FortiManager allows you to Quickly create and modify policies/objects with an easy graphical user interface.

Fortiguard Updates:

--> Instead of each and every device getting fortiguard updates from Internet, Fortimanager act as local fortiguard distribution network server which provides fortiguard updates to all the managed devices.

Firmware Upgrades:

--> FortiManager also provides firmware upgrades for managed devices.

Script Support:

--> FortiManager supports CLI and TCL based scripts for installing configuration on fortigate devices.

Integration with FortiAnalyzer:

--> FortiManager also act as Forti Analyzer which allows you to store log information from managed devices.

--> FortiManager also allows you to generate SQL based reports.

--> FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer both are having similar hardware and software.

--> We can use FortiManager as FortiAnalyzer but for only less volume of logs as it needs memory for other features such as FortiGuard updates and configuration management.

--> It is better to use separate FortiAnalyzer if you are having high volumes of log data.

VPN Manager:

--> FortiManager allows you to implement and deploy VPN configuration on managed FortiGate devices.

Seamless Deployment using ADOMS:

--> FortiManager allows management of large deployments easily and securely by grouping devices based upon geographic or functional administrative domains (ADOMs).

--> Administrative domains (ADOMs) allows the administrator to create groupings of devices for administrators to monitor and manage

--> Managed devices are assigned to an ADOM and one or more administrators are assigned to one or more ADOMs.

Device Support:

--> FortiManager provides support for following devices,

i) Fortigate

ii) Forti Carrier

iii) Forti Analyzer

iv) Forti Cache

v) Forti Client

vi) Forti Web

vii) Forti DDOS

viii) Forti Sandbox
